Aziz Dede'nin Gezgin Atölyesi Activity Book
Designing For Social Impact
The Brief
Following the devastating Hatay earthquake, the Nesin Foundation initiated a two-year workshop project dedicated to supporting children and youth in the affected region. Funded by the Mozaik Foundation, this meaningful initiative brought various creative and educational practices to the earthquake zone.
We had the privilege of taking part in this project directly as instructors, organizing and facilitating ecological design workshops over the course of two years. At the culmination of the project, a comprehensive activity guidebook was compiled so that the diverse workshops developed by the team could be easily replicated by other educators. We were commissioned to create the illustrations for this manual, bringing the project's collective output to life.
Our primary goal in illustrating the guidebook was functional clarity and facilitation. We designed the visuals to act as a supportive tool, helping educators easily comprehend the written descriptions and accurately implement the games and activities in their own sessions.
While the book was designed primarily for educators, we knew children would also be looking at the pages. With this dual audience in mind, we paid special attention to the color palettes and character designs, deliberately adopting a clean, simple, and accessible illustration language. The result is an engaging and highly practical guide that communicates its educational intent with warmth and clarity.
